Hopes Mr. Sato is Sharing His Money
It is a good idea to bring tourism at Tarawa island, especially alternative style and interact with the village (January, Travel Pacific: "Yasuhiro Sato’s Paradise"). But I think this guy makes good money on the back of the local people. I was in Tarawa in 1991 and 1992, tourist, living local style, feeling very at home and also I paid local prices. I learned a little bit of the lifestyle of the I-Kiribati. So I hope very much for the I-Kiribati at Buarike and — "I wanted to be a primitive man with poor people" — that he will share his good money. And nobody is primitive in Kiribati! Since 1992 I have been a regular reader of your magazine and I like to see what´s around the Pacific. The new magazine is okay, but I prefer the older one.

Best Regards from Germany,

Concerned About Missing Interesting News
I cannot see the logic referred to in Giff Johnson's editorial " A New Pacific" in the current issue 145 in which he implies that the publication of North & South Editions will somehow contribute to "linking a historically divided region." In my opinion separate publications will do nothing to link the region. On the contrary, I already feel that I probably missed some interesting and valuable articles that perhaps were in the recent South editions but not in the North. I don't feel comfortable with this. To me it seems unnecessary. I would feel more comfortable with a single publication. I wonder how your other readers feel about this. Perhaps we could get a clarification of your vision for the publication in the next available editorial or mailbag.

Thanks and best wishes for a successful publication in the years to come.
