Pacific People

There is a singular truth in the Pacific Islands: everything, from business to politics to community, is about relationships. Things get done based on who you know. Often, it is also a matter of how long you’ve had that relationship. That is one of the reasons why it is occasionally so difficult for “outsiders” to get a toehold in a new island community.

It is because of this reality that we are launching “Pacific People,” the first of an annual listing of the key “people you need to know” across the region. This is the first time in a couple of decades, best as we can tell, that there’s been such a compilation.

We know, as a first-time project, that this is not a “complete” listing. We invite those who should be included, and who we missed on this go around, to visit our Web site (www.PacificIslands.cc) and fill in the on-line form at the “Pacific People” section. That will help us on next year’s list.

For now, this first “Pacific People” listing should give you an edge in most countries in the region.
