Camacho Signs Emergency Budget Bill
(Pacific Daily News)
Guam Governor Felix Camacho today signed into law a revised budget bill that will cut the U.S. territory's government expenditures by $30 million, the Pacific Daily News reports.
Some critics say the measure, which cuts the budget for the current fiscal year that ends September 30, will cripple a number of departments and agencies. Other groups, including the Guam Chamber of Commerce, urged Camacho to not approve the bill until the government became more efficient.
The measure avoids an increase in Guam's Gross Receipts Tax, but does end some tax breaks for small businesses and increases some user fees.
