Foster Committal Hearing Set For August

(ABC)

Australian businessman Peter Foster will face a committal hearing in August on charges of laundering money from Micronesia reports Radio Australia.

Peter Foster has been in custody since February after arriving from Vanuatu. He was convicted there with entering the country illegally, after escaping Fiji, despite facing charges there.

The current matter involves allegations that Foster forged documents to obtain a $US246,000 loan from the Bank of the Federated States of Micronesia.

The Brisbane Magistrates Court has scheduled a three-day committal hearing for August.

However Foster's lawyer Terry Fischer said while his client will appeal for bail at the start of the hearing, he also wants to "debunk the myth" that he was deported from Vanuatu.
