Taiwan President To Visit Pacific Allies Again This Year

With less than a year left in his presidency, Chen Shui-bian has big diplomatic plans for the second half of the year reports Radio Taiwan International.

The president said that in the coming months he will make several visits to Taiwan's diplomatic allies, including those in the South Pacific.

President Chen is scheduled to attend a leadership summit in the Marshall Islands in October between Taiwan and it Pacific allies. On Monday, Chen invited New Zealand to send an observer to attend the summit. The foreign minister also plans to invite Australia to do the same.
