Eugene Amor, a 2007 graduate of Xavier High School in Chuuk, has been appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy. Amor is the son Agnes Amor of U Municipality, who works at Pohnpei Islands Central School.

The U.S. Embassy in Pohnpei, which endorsed the nominations of the FSM National Government, said 27 nations nominated 89 applicants for consideration for appointments to the U.S. Naval Academy, but only 11 of these were selected.  Forty nations nominated 145 applicants for consideration for appointments to the U.S. Air Force Academy this year, but only 18 of these were selected for the class of 2011.

Johnson and Amor are the third and fourth FSM citizens appointed to attend a U.S. military service academy. They will study civil engineering and aerospace engineering respetively. The first was Okean Ehmes, who attended the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. The second was Byron Silbanuz, currently a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy.
