Cook Islands Mini Games Date Change

(Radio Australia)

The Cook Islands organizers of the Pacific mini games have changed dates to suit the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Radio Australia reports the games will now be held from September 1-October 2 2009.

"If we were to host the games as planned, for that period, the 28th of September to the 9th of October, we would preclude IOC officials and regional representatives the right to attend our games," says David Lobb from the organizing committee.

And they are also anticipating weather patterns.

"We have looked at moving it and consulted with our weather people and discovered that the best period with the least rainfall is a period three days after the new moon and three days before the full moon,” Lobb says.
