First Interviews Held For Education Superintendent
(Pacific Daily News)
The first of three candidates have been interviewed to head the troubled Guam Public School System, the Pacific Daily News reports.
The Guam Education Policy Board last night interviewed Geraldine James, Guam Community College associate dean; Manny Cruz, Guam Developmental Disabilities Council executive director; and, Anthony C. Leon Guerrero, a church deacon.
There are three other identified candidates, though one of them reportedly has been disqualified. That candidate has not been identified. The other candidates are Aline Yamashita; Susan McManus; and, John Burch.
The board is scheduled to meet next Tuesday, and must choose a new education superintendent by May 19. The previous superintendent, Luis Reyes, was fired following a host of problems, including schools closed for health and safety violations.
