Hawaii Medical Team Seeks OK To Travel To Myanmar

(Honolulu Star-Bulletin)

A Hawaii-based group of medical volunteers is seeking permission to provide assistance in devastated Myanmar, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin reports.

The Aloha Medical Mission, whose volunteer doctors and nurses conducted clinics in Myanmar last November, is asking that country's government for approval to provide care in the wake of the devastating flooding that may have killed as many as 100,000 people.

The group was scheduled to send a medical team to Myanmar in October. It would be the third team sent to that country.

An Aloha Medical Mission team will travel to Papua New Guinea in August. The group of medical volunteers has also provided care in the Federated States of Micronesia, Timor-Leste, Philippines and Vietnam.
