Head Of NZ Immigration Service Resigns

 (Radio Australia)

The head of the New Zealand immigration service has resigned amid controversy over the way she helped relatives from Kiribati attain residency.

Radio Australia reports that Mary-anne Thompson organized visa waivers for three i-Kiribati relatives, and then another senior immigration official ordered staff to process the three residency applications even though they were lodged eight months after the Kiribati quota had been filled.
