$24M Approved For Improvements To Guam's Airport
(Pacific Daily News)
Guam's international airport will receive nearly $24 million in U.S. federal funds for upgrading and improvements, the Pacific Daily News reports.
The funds from the Federal Aviation Administration include $14 million for the extension of Runway 6L/24R; $5.8 million for construction of a parallel taxiway; $2 million to demolish former U.S. Navy housing at what used to be Naval Air Station Agana; and, $2 million for noise insulation.
"Guam competed with airports across the nation for this funding," said airport Executive Manager Jess Torres. "The awarding of these grants (is) indicative of the FAA's continuing support of airport development in Guam."
