School Board Begins Search For Superintendent--Again
(Pacific Daily News)
Guam's Education Policy Board tonight begins the search again for a public schools superintendent, the Pacific Daily News reports.
It would be the second time this year that the board has searched for a leader for the territory's troubled public school system. Twelve candidates are being considered, at least one of whom is not on the island. The previous superintendent, Giovanni "Bunny" Sgambelluri, resigned for unspecified health reasons after two weeks on the job.
The Education Policy Board will begin candidate interviews tonight. The interviews will continue on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
The newspaper says the island's public school system hasn't had a superintendent who has lasted more than three years on the job since 1987.
