Solomons Trims Delegation To Pacific Arts Festival

(Solomon Star)

The number of Solomon Islands delegates to the Festival of Pacific Arts in Pago Pago, American Samoa, has been cut to 104.

Head of delegation Robert Au told the Solomon Star that initially 116 were confirmed to represent Solomon Islands.

“We have to reduce it due to reasons beyond the task force’s control,” Au said.

Despite this, Au said preparations are going fine.

Meanwhile, the official dressing for the Solomon Islands contingent to the Festival of Pacific Arts in American Samoa was unveiled on Saturday during a dress rehearsal.

These include shirts which bears the Solomon Islands Flag with an art design on its left side and blue long pants and skirts. The uniforms were produced in Fiji and arrived last week.

Au said government spent over S$100,000 for these uniforms. Each delegate received a pair of the uniforms.

“These uniforms will be worn during the group’s departure for the festival on Friday,” he said.
