Solomons Opposition Withdraws No Confidence Motion
(Solomon Star)
The Solomon Islands Opposition Wednesday withdrew the notice it submitted to parliament on its proposed no confidence vote against the government.
This is to avoid the no confidence motion being debated this Friday. It took the action after Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua instructed the Parliament House Committee to set the motion for debate on Friday.
The Opposition wants the motion moved to Friday next week.
Speaker of Parliament Sir Peter Kenilorea confirmed the notice was withdrawn.
This means the Opposition will have to resubmit the notice today if it wants the motion moved next Friday.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s Office said the Government is not worried at the no confidence motion. The mid-year parliament sitting started Thursday.
