The bus caught fire last night near Sigatoka. It reportedly was driven for about a kilometer, while on fire, because the bus’ breaks failed, a police spokeswoman said.
The bus had been hired to take people to a funeral in Nadi. The pregnant woman’s husband was riding in the hearse. One of her children was able to escape the bus after it crashed along the side of the road.
National Fire Authority Chief Mark Reid said the accident had traumatized some of his firefighters who were on the scene of the grisly accident.
