Fiji Govt To Introduce News Media Regulations

Fiji’s interim government says it will introduce new regulations on the country’s news media companies by the end of the year or early next year, the Fiji Times reports.
The report did not specify what kind of regulations would be imposed by the interim government, which has clashed with domestic and foreign news organizations.
"Just report responsibly and you wouldn't have to worry about it," Dept. of Information Deputy Secretary Major Neumi Leweni told the newspaper.
Leweni said the government was also focusing on using information technologies to get its message out without relying on news organizations.
